After coming back from the London trip, I am now fully engaged in scholar mode. It is amazing how being around a new group of people can stimulate thought and challenge perceptions. The thought of spending the next two years (maximum!) writing and researching excites me.
As we have mentioned, my job ended on Sept. 1 and Krisy's job ended on Aug. 31. That was an interesting experience. We woke up on Sept. 2 and it hit us: we are both unemployed. The bliss of finishing our jobs quickly gave way to the sobriety that only the job hunt can bring. Krisy submitted about 10 applications and we did not hear much for a while. Sobriety quickly gave way to anxiety. But Krisy and I prayed for the Lord's provision and peace. We also asked friends and family to do the same. Soon, anxiety gave way to the peace that passes understanding.
The 10 applications generated 3 appointments for interviews (a 30% return; you go girl). The first one was in the same place she works now, so she knew the bus routes well. She went for the interview yesterday and they said they would call to let her know either way. She was home for 10 minutes and they called to offer her the job! They said they were very impressed with her and wanted to make sure they scooped her up. Praise the Lord!
As He often does, the Lord added a blessing beyond His first provision. We received notice that Krisy will receive a refund from the benefits scheme at her former job, which will amount to the income we lost while we have been out of work for the last couple of weeks. We are humbled to see the Lord continuing to provide for us as we follow His will.
